Do you want to create reading lists directly from your course in Canvas?

This tutorial will show you how to create your own reading lists directly from Canvas with Leganto, making sure that your students can access your course materials directly from the library with minimal searching and clicking. Let's get started.

How do I create a reading list in Canvas with Leganto? Title Slide
First, log on to your Canvas home page and select the course you'd like to create a reading list for. Access the course's side menu and select 'Leganto Course Materials.' Leganto Source Materials option highlighted in Canvas course menu

You will be presented with two options. Select the 'Create a new list from scratch' on the left hand side.

Create a new list: Build a list of course materials by adding items from the library collection, from the web, or from your computer.

 

Create list from an existing list: Copy an existing reading list to get started. You will be able to add, edit, or remove items as needed.

A new form for reading lists will appear. Use this form to enter details about your course to share with the library. Make sure to select the correct campus for your course as this could affect the availability of materials offered. Once you filled out the form, click on 'Confirm' to continue.

The next page of the forum is optional. You can add a short description of the reading list. This description will be visible to students who have access to this list. Select 'Next' to continue.

Reading List Description form asks for List name, list description, and a link to the associated course.

On this page, you can determine how your reading list is organized by splitting it into sections. You can select a template to customize and organize your lists into weeks or modules or just click 'Create list' to start with a single default section.

You can add, delete, rename or reorganize these sections at any time. This form is just to help you get started with the most appropriate template. Click on 'Create list' Once you're done.
