Get Started: Advanced Writing in the Social Sciences
If this is a new topic, get definitions for your terms from
International Encyclopedia of Social and Behavioral Science, 2nd edition --major resource to help define your research terms and concepts, such as critical race theory, gentrification, or equity
Use Scholar OneSearch --similar to Google, but better for finding articles from peer-reviewed journals
NOTE: use the quotation marks to search for phrases, and the Filter My Results menu to get articles from peer-reviewed journals.
Try an interdisciplinary database, such as Academic Search Complete (does NOT search like Google!) but has helpful subject tags to help focus your search:
or JSTOR-- use the Advanced Search to select the subject collection(s) in your research area.
Check the subject guides to find Key Resources in your research area: databases, statistics, and onine reference tools.
