Public library collections

Boston campus

The Boston Public Library provides access to several national and international newspapers and news databases, including InfoTrac Newsstand, the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald. You can view a full list of current and historical newspaper collections on their Newspaper Resources page. You'll need a BPL card (available to anyone who lives, works or attends school in Massachusetts) in order to access these materials.

Oakland campus

The Oakland Public Library provides access to historical newspaper archives that include the Oakland Tribune (from 1874 to 1977) while the San Francisco Public Library provides access to archives including the San Francisco Chronicle (from 1865 to 2017) and the San Francisco Examiner (from 1865 to present). You can access OPL historical newspapers with your online registration for 30 days until visiting an OPL branch with ID verification. You’ll need to visit a SFPL branch to receive a library card and access SFPL historical newspapers
