- NCES Site MapAn overview of NCES surveys, studies, and publications.
- Office of Planning, Evaluation and Policy (student loans, grants, FERPA, etc.)(OPEPD) oversees planning, evaluation, policy development, and budget activities in the U.S. Department of Education (ED). OPEPD coordinates these activities with ED principal offices and outside organizations such as Congress, the Office of Management and Budget, and state education agencies.

- National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP)Provides periodic national assessments of achievement by subject area for various populations of students (e.g. fourth graders).
- The Condition of EducationA link to the National Center for Education Statistics site, this is the electronic version of an annual report submitted to Congress. This comprehensive compendium describes the current status and recent progress of education in the US, summarizing major education statistics on the status and progress at all levels of schooling, from preprimary to graduate. Also known as The Nation's Report Card.
- Digest of Education StatisticsThe primary purpose of the Digest of Education Statistics is to provide a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school. The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

- The Nation's Report CardExtensive site providing access to reports, dashboards, and datasets. Reports provide information about student proficiency across a variety of disciplines.
- School Enrollment (U.S. Census Bureau)School enrollment captures the population who report being enrolled in a regular school. A regular school advances a person towards an elementary school certificate, high school diploma, or college, university, or professional school (such as law or medicine) degree.

- Data Quality Campaign: Using Data to Improve Student AchievementDQC is a non-profit and non-partisan national advocacy organization with a mission to support state policymakers and other key leaders to promote the development and effective use of statewide longitudinal data systems.
- National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance(NCEE) conducts unbiased large-scale evaluations of education programs and practices supported by federal funds; provides research-based technical assistance to educators and policymakers; and supports the synthesis and the wide spread dissemination of the results of research and evaluation throughout the United States.
- Ranking of the States and Estimates of School Statistics (National Education Association)From the National Education Association (NEA). State rankings for K-12 indicators, including enrollment, teachers, and school revenue and expenditures
- GrapevineSince 1960, Grapevine has published annual compilations of data on state tax support for higher education, including general fund appropriations for universities, colleges, community colleges, and state higher education agencies. Each year’s Grapevine survey has asked states for tax appropriations data for the new fiscal year and for revisions (if any) to data reported in previous years
Mapping Resources
- MapEDMapED is a NCES mapping data tool that provides geographic context to various demographic datasets. The maps use data from NCES and the U.S. Census Bureau among other agencies.

- SimplyAnalytics This link opens in a new windowA mapping and data visualization application including demographic data from the US Census dating back to 1980, the American Community Survey (ACS), consumer spending data from the Consumer Expenditure Survey (CEX), CDC PLACES health data, and D&B's Points-of-Interest business directory. Additionally, users have access to the MRI-SimmonsLOCAL consumer behavior dataset, which includes data on over 8,000 brands, 450 categories and detailed lifestyle data. This resource is limited to 2 users at a time. Registration is required to save work between sessions.
