Citation Styles for Theatre
Always check with your professor to see if there is a required style for your paper. In general, researchers in theatre and drama use the citation style in the Modern Language Association (MLA) Style Guide or the Notes-Bibliography version of the Chicago Manual of Style.

Citation Managers
Snell Library supports four citation managers. These programs help you save citations, insert those citations into your paper, and automatically create a works cited or reference page at the end.
- RefWorksCloud-based citation manager that works on any device with an Internet connection. Requires a Northeastern email address to use.
- EndNoteCitation manager available both as desktop software and as a cloud-based program. (The desktop and web versions can sync together.) Download and install the program from the Software Downloads page on MyNortheastern. Requires a Northeastern email address to use.
- ZoteroFree, open-source citation management software with both an online and offline component. Northeastern affiliation not required. Download from https://www.zotero.org/.
- MendeleyFree software that will help manage research, annotate PDFs, and format citations. Mendeley has both a cloud-based and desktop component.
