How to submit a removal request
To request a file or collection be removed from the DRS, use the DRS contact form to submit the title and URL of the file or collection you would like removed along with the reason for the request. Requests will be reviewed by library staff with input from the manager of the digital object(s). If a request is determined to be valid, we will ask you to allow the library to restrict access to just the Northeastern University community instead of removing the material. If you chose to have the material removed from the DRS, it will be removed from view, but the digital object(s) will be preserved in the DRS. Consult the Digital Repository Service Policies and Terms of Participation for more information.
Requests to remove a thesis or dissertation
Making a thesis or dissertation available (with or without an embargo) through the library is a condition of graduation outlined in the student handbook and reaffirmed in the ETD Program agreement:
[T]he student, as a condition of a degree award, must grant the University the royalty-free right to reproduce and publicly distribute copies of the thesis for limited and noncommercial purposes.
A thesis or dissertation may be removed under certain conditions. If you feel your work should not be in the DRS, even under a renewable embargo, you will need permission from an administrator of the program that issued your degree to have it removed from the DRS and, essentially, removed from Northeastern’s academic record. Once you have secured permission, use the DRS contact form or send an email to the library's repository team to initiate a request.
