Step 7: Make a dashboard

This is a preview of the dashboard that we will be trying to make. It shows all three of the charts that we made and filters the data when a user selects an airport on the map.

Add a new dashboard

To start, we can create a new dashboard by clicking the "New Dashboard" button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

Drag-and-drop sheets to make a dashboard

On the dashboard screen, you will see the charts that we made under "Sheets" on the left-hand side of the screen. Drag-and-drop the "Airports" map on to the area that says "Drop sheets here."

Next, drag-and-drop the "Average Delay" chart into dashboard area, above the map. As you are clicking and dragging, look for the dark rectangle to appear and change as you move your mouse as this determines how the chart will be placed.

Next, drag-and-drop the "Seasonal Delay" chart into dashboard area, to the right of the bar chart. Again, be sure to look at where the dark rectangle indicates the chart will be placed.

Make your dashboard interactive

To make your dashboard interactive, click on the map and then the “Use as Filter” button that appears. This will cause all of the charts on your dashboard to be filtered when you select an airport on the map.

Preview your dashboard

To test your dashboard, click the preview button on the top right of the screen and try clicking on the map to change the selected airport.
