What is EndNote?

EndNote is software that helps you manage your research and format your citations. EndNote is licensed for use by current Northeastern faculty, staff, and students. It comes with a plug-in for Word, called Cite While You Write

There are two ways to use Endnote:

​1) You can install Endnote software* and store your citations and PDFs on your own personal computer, or

2) You can use a web-based version and store (and share) your research items in the cloud. 

Most people choose the first option because it has greater functionality. The second option can be a backup of your Endnote library that is synced with the desktop version.

*As a Northeastern affiliate, you do not need to purchase it if you follow these download instructions. As long as you are a current student, faculty or staff, there is no need to download a trial version or one that requires a purchase.
