About Sustainability at Northeastern University

Sustainability can be defined as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." (Dictionary of Sustainable Management)

Northeastern University is strongly committed to promoting sustainability in its research and curricular activities.  Sustainability, along with health and security, has been identified as one of the global challanges for the University to confront.  The University also supports sustainability in its own physical operations and development.

The University Libraries have been developing a rich collection of resources focused on all aspects of sustainability. Books, journal articles, government documents, pertinent websites, and other resources can be found on the topic in any number of academic disciplines, including architecture, business, engineering, and the medical fields.
